This directory is an open source directory. The listings are kept current through the participation of thousands of people around the world who are part of the New Thought movement. It is kept secure via the update process. Updates are verified to insure authenticity. The directory is a compilation of public information which is actively maintained through your participation. Centers can exert influence over their respective listing through contribution and participation. Centers are given this opportunity when we call to verify newly submitted information.

Serving New Thought also maintains NewThoughtLibrary.com which serves Public Domain New Thought texts at no cost to all people and supports the Universal New Thought Translation Project insuring that all these works are made universally available in all languages for all people for free. As your tithes come in we are able to pay for scanning and translations, then make these texts available on the web through New Thought Library

Serving the Seeker
Before the creation of FindACenter.com, a New Thought Seeker was forced to find, then search through seven or more different New Thought denominational directories to find the New Thought Center or Church nearest her home. Even if she could find and search all the denominations directories, some of the strongest New Thought communities are independent. These were left out in the cold as the large denominations naturally do not give listings to centers that are not paying their membership fee. This often led to frustration on the part New Thought seekers who might have had a New Thought Center right around the corner, but were unable to find it. Find A Center is the most comprehensive and with your help, the most up to date directory of New Thought Centers and it is

independent, non-denominational and dedicated to all the individuals and groups of the New Thought Movement.

What is required to be listed in the Directory?

The directory was created to meet a universal need for a comprehensive New Thought Directory with a dynamic solution. The solution is an open source directory which acts as a universal directory for New Thought which is not tainted by any Spiritual Politics or membership fees. Members Any New Thought Church, Center, or Study Group may be listed in the directory as long as that group teaches or shares New Thought and is in congruence with the Universal Declaration of Principles as articulated in January 2000 by the International New Thought Alliance (NTA), which is the oldest non-denominational New Thought Membership Organization that we are aware of. Since the humble beginning of the directory in 1992, it has grown to include most if not all New Thought Churches, Centers and Study Groups around the world. This is because the directory is an Open Source Directory meaning it is a compilation of public information enhanced through ongoing participation. Although submission and updates may be sent in by anyone, respective centers can elect to participate and thereby influence their listings. If a center demonstrates Prosperity Consciouness by supporting this resource and the other resources such as NewThoughtLibrary.com with tithes and donations, then they accrue significant advantages for their center via the listing and more. When people around the world are seeking a New Thought Center, Church or Study Group, they come to this directory because we do not participate in Spiritual Politics, this means that we list all New Thought communities regardless of their affiliation or membership. Whether you are a small group or a member church of a large denomination, you are treated equally. The only requirement is that your group is a New Thought community rooted in the aformentioned Univeral Principles. There is no fee to be in the directory, however

Centers that wish to express a prosperity consciousness tithe / donate. The suggested annual tithe to support the directory is $75. This tithe and other tithes support this resource and other free resources that support your center and all New Thought Communities, Seekers and Sharers. You can read about some of these resources at ServingNewThought.org/resources.htm Supporters of these resources are given membership which entitles them to have their links activated and more.

A valid phone number and email are required to be listed in the directory. We do verify updates and new listings. We reserve the right to remove any listing which violates the qualifications for being in the directory.

Members of a recognized New Thought Denomination, AGNT, INTA or SEA are prequalified to be listed. Independent centers and groups must apply for admission to the directory and go through a verification process.

If you are an independent center and wish to accelerate the listing process, it is advisable for you to register with the AGNT, INTA or SEA

More About Find The Church
Is there a charge to be listed?
No, Serving New Thought is a non-profit ministry and we do not charge any fees for listings. If you have a New Thought Ministry, you are probably already listed. Listings have been accepted for 15 years and anyone may submit a listing and it will be accepted as long as the center is a New Thought Center. As mentioned above, the Directory is supported by tithes and donations which are voluntary. By tithing to support the directory, you are supporting your center, your denomination and New Thought around the world. The suggested minimum annual tithe is $75. Tithes can be sent to: Serving New Thought, 1512 Deborah Road SE #131, Rio Rancho, NM 87124 USA
We have set the bar quite low for centers wishing to demonstrate prosperity consciousness. The value of the directory to your center and all of New Thought is immense, by supporting the directory you are supporting your own ministry and all of New Thought .
You can also use the link on the left to send your tithe through Pay Pal.
New Thought Seekers are often discovering your center online at FindACenter.com/FindTheChurch.org or through one of the many other Serving New Thought Webs supporting your ministry and community. New Thought Seekers become new members. This site is mirrored in at least 7 different countries. If your center is floundering in Poverty Consciousness and cannot presently support the directory through tithing, don't worry, we will still list you and we will pray for your prosperity. Although these websites are huge, we presently have a very small staff to run the phones or make phone calls to verify listings, updates or information. This means that it takes more time for us to get things done. If you wish to expedite your update or getting support for your center, then pick a phone and call us.

Advantages to tithing
Tithing:
  1. New Thought Institutions and individuals who tithe are supporting their own ministries and all of New Thought.
  2. Those who tithe will be given membership in World New Thought and a higher level of attention.
  3. Those who tithe are designated Prosperity Centers and will have a thank you graphic placed next to the listing they are supporting.
  4. Those who tithe at least the minimum annual tithe may go through the Prosperity Program and be given control of the graphic to the left of their listing.
  5. Tithing supports our work to increase resources that support you.
  6. Those who tithe experience increased prosperity and satisfaction knowing they are supporting their own survival and prosperity as well as contributing to the growoth of New Thought around the world
After sending in an update, you will receive a phone call. Remember we are a ministry and not a private company, treat the volunteers kindly and let them show you all the wonderful resources we support you with. You will need about 20 minutes or so to go through the entire process. This process has been carefully worked out over 15 years to help YOU so work with the person who is going over the update process with you and familiarizing you with the services that support you. Your tithes make it possible for us to pay for hosting and web services as well as pay for a telephone to call and verify the validity of listings and updates submitted from around the world. The directory is the most comprehensive and useful to seekers and sharers of New Thought. Serving New Thought serves over 1500 New Thought centers in the USA and an additional 500 or 600 internationally.

Thank you to the people who send in tithes to support this work. We have a special prosperity program to help your New Thought Center thrive: Prosperity

Your Suggestions are put into action
We not only add or update your listings, we listen to your suggestions and make changes which will improve the directory. For over 15 years, since the creation of the directory, your suggestions have resulted in the directory being more detailed and thus more supportive of your ministry.

Serving New Thought Ministries was created to support Seeker and Sharers of New Thought and your requests for an expanded New Thought web presence. Some of our supporters had domain names that they had originally acquired to support New Thought but had never developed. After we began using domain names to make it easier to find the directory, they gave them to us and we manifested their visions and yours. Sometimes they were letting go of sites that they did not feel they could maintain or develop or simply felt were not productive, they turned them over to us and we insure that these sites meet your needs and suggestions. When people turn to us, we insure that their work is preserved and expanded in our mission of "Serving New Thought everywhere."

The idea of the Universal Directory of New Thought Centers
FindTheCenter.com began in 1992 in response to the need for a universal directory of New Thought Churches. Such a directory is not a new idea either in New Thought or in the field of ministry. Pioneers of New Thought such as Annie Rix Militz included listings of all New Thought Centers at the back of their magazines. With the evolution of New Thought came denominations and with the formation of denominations and institutions, "Spiritual Politics" reared its ugly head. This all too human phenomena gave rise to "turf wars" and with the death of Annie Rix Militz, the esteemed Master Mind Magazine stopped being published and thus the universal directory of all New Thought Churches & Centers was discontinued.
The Potential of the Internet vs Spiritual Politics
Almost a century after the last publication of Master Mind magazine, the internet emerged as a potent public medium with the potential to empower billions of people, yet, Spiritual Politics were still in play. Even as New Thought denominations created their first websites, they didn't link to each other. Perhaps part of the reason for this fearful perspective, was the resounding emotional memory of the decline of certain denominations. We are doing our part in bringing about a renaissance of Divine Science as well as other older denominations. Some denominations are still engaged in "turf wars" and thus afraid of linking to each other and especially to the newer denominations for fear that they in turn will be supplanted. Some denominations have even emulated Mary Baker Eddy's penchant for law suits as they sought to suppress new growth within New Thought. Strange indeed are the actions of individuals under the potent hypnosis of Spiritual Politics. It should be noted that the largest New Denomination is Seicho No Ei which is headquartered in Japan. Seicho No Ei has 5 million members. It is good that Spiritual Politics is now past history and no longer part of New Thought.
Putting Spiritual Politics to Sleep and Creating A Spiritual Community

Through the help of thousands of people all around the world, this directory was created over the last 15 years. Every year more and more people have listed New Thought Spiritual Communities which they found missing from the directory insuring that the directory has grown to include all centers.

Through the Prosperity Program, ServingNewThought.org insures that Spiritual Communities around the world have websites which attract the type of people who wish to be in a New Thought Spiritual Community. Since 2002, we have been applying principles derived from the works of Riane Eisler and from a book called the Cultural Creatives by Paul Ray and Sherry Anderson which is about people around the world who "care deeply about ecology and saving the planet, about relationships, peace, social justice, and about self actualization, spirituality and self-expression. Surprisingly, they are both inner-directed and socially concerned, they're activists, volunteers and contributors to good causes more than others." These are the type of people who want to be in New Thought Communities.

Creating Clarity and Spiritual Community
Spiritual Politics is a type of thinking that is contrary to the very essence and spirit of New Thought and would surely surprise Albert Grier and other early leaders within the movement who believed in abundance and sharing. The result of this fear based consciousness was that it left the seeker of New Thought teachings or a local New Thought Center stranded upon the shores of a tumultuous New Age sea of teachings and at the mercy of magazines with no universal directories but lots of advertisements for the latest fads and gurus. The problem of the pervasive confusion of New Age with New Thought continued in great part because of Spiritual Politics. Even today some New Thought ministers don't even know that Seicho No Ei is a New Thought Denomination or that Ernest Holmes and Emmet Fox were both orginally ordained in Divine Science.

We deal with Spiritual Communities around the world. They are composed of people and even ministers are human meaning that they have good days and bad days. With over 2000 listings, it takes over a year to call all the centers in the directory and insure they are up to date. Both volunteers and our senior minister have talked to wonderful people at centers and on rare occasions to ministers who are rude in ways that one would never expect. We have asked to do unethical things including remove listings from the directory. Listing are removed when a New Thought Center discontinues its ministry. We do not remove listings for any other reason. We do not remove listings of other centers because of disputes with other centers or because they are no longer members of a particular denomination or because a minister or center is no longer "in good standing" with a particular denomination or organization. We do not involve ourselves in spiritual politics. In the event that your center closes, announces its closure on its website, sends us a letter that they are closed forever and none of its members decide to continue the center in a new independent form, we remove the listing.

The Future
The future of Serving New Thought:

Serving New Thought will continue to expand the frontiers of New Thought through all media as the best and most essential media messenger of the New Thought movement. We will continue the tradition of ministers such as Albert Grier and Charles Fillmore that "truth should be told not sold." We know that our supply is through and from God and so our success and prosperity is assured.

ServingNewThought continues because our work is not poised precariously on a profit margin but is rooted in the timeless principles of spirit and prosperity which means in consciousness. That consciousness is ours and yours. Believe it or not, over the years we have dealt with Spiritual Poltics coming from a number of directions, but we have weathered all challenges because we are focused on serving New Thought Seekers and Sharers and more and more of you have seen the benefit of the resources we support you with and thus the wisdom of supporting us. We had always hoped that at some time, Serving New Thought and its services would be merged with another New Thought institution which shares these principles. But we have never found another institution which believes in ServingNewThought with love, compassion and understanding relying upon consciousness and donations and tithes as opposed to membership fees.
